PHSMUN Committees 2026

There are eight different committees for our 2026 International Summer conference. These eight committees all have two topics of which you will be debating on. These are what you will come to be writing resolutions on. The nine committees are the following:

GA1: Disarmament and Security

  • The Disarmament and International Security Committee focuses on global peace and stability. Delegates debate issues such as nuclear weapons, arms control, terrorism, cyber warfare, and emerging military technologies. GA1 is highly policy-driven, requiring strong understanding of international security challenges and cooperation between states.

GA3: Social, Humanitarian and Cultural

  • .GA3 addresses issues that directly affect people and societies worldwide. Topics often include human rights, gender equality, refugee crises, education, and cultural preservation. This committee emphasizes decision making, ethical debate, and finding practical solutions to improve global living conditions. Delegates must consider cultural sensitivity and differing social values while working toward inclusive and sustainable solutions.

GA4: Special Political

  • GA4 deals with a wide range of political issues not covered by other committees. These include decolonization, peacekeeping, outer space governance, and the rights of displaced populations. It is a versatile committee that blends political strategy with global problem-solving. Delegates often engage with long-standing international disputes that require nuanced and diplomatic approaches.

World Economic Forum

  • The World Economic Forum is a dynamic, discussion-based committee that simulates cooperation between global leaders and policymakers. Delegates focus on economic challenges such as global trade, inequality, climate finance, and technological innovation. It encourages creative thinking and real-world policy while remaining within the confining UN rules procedures. Participants are expected to think pragmatically, often forming partnerships to address global economic issues.

UN Commission on the Status of Women

  • The UNCSW is committed to advancing gender equality and empowering women globally. Delegates will engage in discussions on key issues such as women's rights, economic opportunities, political participation, and social justice. Through diplomacy and collaboration, they will work to develop policies that promote exclusivity, equity, and sustainable progress for women and girls worldwide.

Historical Committee

  • The Historical Committee offers a journey into crucial moments from the past. Delegates step into the shoes of historical figures or nations, immersing themselves in debates, negotiations, and crises of the chosen era. Through research and some improvising, participants gain insights into historical decision-making and its continuing effect in global issues.

Crisis Committee

  • The Crisis Committee is fast-paced and unpredictable. Delegates represent individuals or key actors and must respond to evolving scenarios in real time. With continuous updates and unexpected developments, this committee tests adaptability, creativity, and quick decision-making under pressure. Success depends on both public diplomacy and behind-the-scenes actions, making it one of the most immersive MUN experiences.

Security Council

  • The UN Security Council is the primary body responsible for maintaining global peace and security within the United Nations. It has 15 members, including five permanent ones (China, France, Russia, the UK, and the US) with veto power, and ten non-permanent members elected for two-year terms. Its main functions include authorizing peacekeeping missions, imposing sanctions, and issuing resolutions to address conflicts and security threats worldwide.

Human Rights Council

  • The Human Rights Committee focuses on protecting and promoting fundamental rights across the globe. Delegates address violations such as discrimination, freedom of speech, and humanitarian abuses. Debate is often intense and values-driven, requiring both legal understanding and moral reasoning. Delegates must navigate sensitive political issues while upholding international frameworks such as human rights conventions and treaties.
